Mexican navy officials June 9 confirmed the arrest of a Brownsville man near Matamoros who is accused of guarding a stash house with approximately 550 pounds of marijuana.
Juan Alberto González Arambula, 60, was arrested last weekend near the Refugio rural area in Matamoros, according to a press release from the navy. Gonzalez was busted when a convoy of marines on patrol spotted a suspicious man running out of a wooden shack with some bundles and trying to get in a Chevrolet with Tamaulipas plates, the release stated.
The marines surrounded the man while searching the vehicle and the house. They found four radio communication devices and 63 bundles of marijuana, officials said. The seized cannabis had a total weight of 550 pounds of marijuana, which were transported to the naval base in Matamoros. (Brownsville Herald, June 10)
