Gov. Bill Ritter Jr. signed two bills into law on June 7 intended to increase oversight of Colorado’s medical cannabis industry. Under the new legislation, municipalities can ban dispensaries.
The new regulations also require doctors to conduct a physical exam of any patient they prescribe cannabis to, and prohibits physicians from having a financial relationship with a dispensary.
“The companion measures I signed today strike a delicate balance between protecting public safety and respecting the will of the voters,” said Ritter. (NYT, June 7)
